Faux Flying

Not a lot to update you on this week. I have completed all of my faux flights (simulator flights) worth 5.2 hours on my log book and I am now waiting to do my real flying. The first few flights in the plane will be basically the same as the simulator flights. I'm hoping that we can do something more exciting with the lessons because I have covered the basic flying skills when I did my licence in the UK.

The only other thing I can update you on is the trips I have been on. The weather hasn't been great so have spent a couple days wishing I was doing something. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking with just a little caption to say where it was.

Surfing Beach @ Raglan Bay

Sunset from my room never gets old

On our way to Kawhia (pronounced Kafia)

More from enroute Kawhia

Seen quite a few Kingfishers

Maungatautari reserve was like a scene from Jurassic Park with the pest fence going for 7km

Arapuni Swing bridge was fun

Arapuni Power station with dam water feeding 4 generators

Track leading to Cathedral Cove

Cathedral Cove - views were incredible

More from Cathedral Cove

Pan from Cathedral Cove

Hot Water Beach. When we found the source, it was insanely hot!

Mission Bay in Auckland, thanks to Louise for the recommendation

Auckland centre in the distance

It looked haunted!

Te Waihou walk to the Blue Spring

Te Waihou spring water

Te Waihou - even after monsoon weather this water is crystal clear

70% of NZ bottled water comes from this source - so we filled our bottles

The source of the goodness, takes upto 100 years to surface and comes out at a rate that could fill a 6 lane 25m pool in 12mins and stays at 11C all year around.

Iron clad town

Plane on approach to airport at sunset.

The team having a wave stand off
